Harry's World Journeys

Black Forest, Germany (21-27 August, 2008)

It was nice and cool in the Black Forest even in July.
Blueberries, raspberries and wild straberries were everywhere!
A perfect hideaway for dogs who hate summer heat in the city.

Fasnacht in Saas-Fee, Switzerland (26 January - 2 February, 2008)

Harry went to Saas-Fee not just to ski.
He also enjoyed watching strange people during the Fasnacht,
a local carnival.
The Fasnacht in Saas-Fee is quite different
from the one in Basel.

Grindelwald, Switzerland (2-6 October, 2007)

The autumn in the Alps is beautiful.
If you are lucky with the weather,
it is probably the best season to go hiking there.
It is not too hot to walk, not too crowded with tourists,
and accommodations are less expensive than in the summer...

Finland in the Summer (3-12 August, 2007)

A slow quiet summer holiday in Finland.
No need to rush to sightseeings or shopping-tours.
Just relax and eat berries!

Como and Garda, Italy (26 July - 1 August, 2007)

It is not always easy to find a dog-friendly beach resort
in Southern Europe.
But you will find it in Lake Garda!

Saas-Fee, Switzerland (18-25 March, 2007)

Swiss people often take their dogs to holidays.
Some take their dogs even to a snowy moutain.
This time, Harry accompanied his master to Saas-Fee.
He enjoyed skiing in the beautiful glacier.

Basler Fasnacht, Switzerland (26-28 February, 2007)

Basler Fasnacht is the biggest carnival in Switzerland.
It is held in Basel, the city where Harry lives with his family.
The public transportation in the city centre was completely stopped.
Most offices and schools were closed.
Harry and his family were virtually trapped in the Basel City.
So why not enjoy the carnival!

New York, USA (2003-2006)

Harry lived his first three years in New York City.
Harry's happy memory of home, parks, squirrels and
many more in "The Big Apple".

Utrecht, Holland (30 August - 3 September 2006)

Harry went to Holland for the second time this year.
He visited Utrecht, an old academic city, this time.
From Basel, he took the City Night Line to Utrecht.
It was great fun to travel by night train.

Basel, Switzerland: An Introduction to Dog's Life in Basel
(Summer 2006)

Harry and his family moved to Basel, Switzerland.
Harry is now ready for his new world adventure.
The beginning of an adventure is not always easy.
There are lots of things to do...

Atami, Japan (24 May - 30 June 2006)

Harry visited Japan for the second time this year.
This time, he enjoyed the hot springs in Atami.
He also had a good time in the beach and the Japanese garden.

Amsterdam, Holland (30 April - 9 May 2006)

Harry visited the Netherlands for IFCS World Agility Championships.
He enjoyed sightseeings in Amsterdam and Keukenhof.
He also visited Basel, Switzerland on a very tight schedule.
Europe seems to be very dog friendly compared to the US or Japan.
Harry was allowed in most public spaces,
even in restaurants and the National Museum.

Tokyo & Mt. Fuji, Japan (11 January - 7 March, 2006)

Harry visited Japan.
Japan is a rabies-free country.
So Harry needed to do lots of preparation to avoid quarantine.
But it was worthwhile.
Harry enjoyed beautiful seafood, Mt.Fuji, Onsen, and agility there.

Arizona, USA (9-14 November, 2005)

Harry visited Scottsdale, Arizona, the land of Sunshine.
Harry enjoyed the sun and the beautiful canyon and the lake.
