My dog pulls the leash
(Nellie, 3 years old, Golden Retriever and Chow Mix)
Turn 180 degree to the opposite direction whenever your dog pulls. You do not need to go far when you take her for a walk. Walk in a 8 figure, if your dog continues to pull. Eventually she will give up to pull and follow after the leader (that is you!). If your dog pulls too hard for you to control properly, you may want to try Gentle Leader head collar on her. Product Information of Gentle Leader is here.

My dog barks too much
(Gordon, 6 months old, Golden Retriever)
If your dog is barking to get attention or to demand something, simply ignore until he stops. At least 30 seconds after he has stopped barking, praise him. If he is barking for other reasons. Try this! Mix water with the same amount of vinegar. Spray the liquid to the dog's nose whenever he barks. Dogs cannot smell and bark at the same time, so your dog will stop barking immediately. Praise your dog when he gets quiet. Your dog will eventually stop barking unecessarily.

Harry

My dog chews on expensive furniture
(Lily, 4 months old, Miniature Dachshund)
Put a few pennies in an empty soda can and seal it with scotch tape. Whenever you find your dog chewing on your furniture, throw it on the floor (not to your dog!). Most dogs get afraid of the sound; your dog will eventually understand that something terrible happens whenever she chews on your furniture. You can also use this trick when your dog scavenges a rubbish bin or pulls out toilet paper.

My dog suffers separation anxiety
(Yuki, 6 months old, West Highland White Terrier)
Do not kiss or hug or say good-bye to your dog before you leave home. Ignore your dog for a while before you leave home. This indicates that being left alone is no serious event. Keep the radio on if your dog does not like a quiet environment. Leave some toys to play with. Ingnore your dog for a while after you come back home too. Wait until your dog calms down.
Kong
A rubber dog toy called Kong may be useful to make your dog busy while staying home alone. You simply have to stuff the hollow end with treats or peanut butter. Product Information of Kong is here.

My dog eats her own poop
(Chiquita, 7 years old, Jack Russel Terrier)
There are mainly two reaons for this poop eating behaviour: Stress and flavourings contained in the dog food. Give your dog a lot of aerobic excercise first. Then consider gradually changing your dog's diet to more natural one. If you can cook for your dog, it is the best (See Gourmet Dog Recipes). If you do not have time to cook, buy kibbles made from all natural ingredients.

My dog does not like to wear a collar
(Oliver, 4 months old, French Bulldog)
Decide on a command for putting a collar. For example, "Collar". Then put the collar on your dog and give him a treat immediately. Repeat this a few times a day. After a few days, your dog starts associating the collar with a treat. After a few weeks, your dog will be conditioned to be happy by looking at the collar or only by hearing the "Collar" command.
